Common Successful Consumer Cases

📖 Real-Life Scenario

How a Consumer Complaint Got a Full Refund — A Real Example

Priya bought a washing machine online for ₹28,000. It stopped working after 5 months. The company's service centre visited twice but could not fix it. When Priya asked for a replacement or refund, the company said the warranty covered only repair, not replacement — and that the product had "physical damage" she had never noticed or reported.

Priya filed a complaint at the District Consumer Commission (edaakhil.nic.in) herself — no lawyer needed. She attached her purchase invoice, warranty card, job sheets from the two failed repair visits, and email threads. The commission issued notice to the company. At the first hearing, the company's lawyer proposed a settlement. Within 3 months, Priya received a full refund of ₹28,000 plus ₹10,000 in compensation for harassment — more than the original product value.

📌 Key Evidence to Save: Purchase invoice, delivery receipt, warranty card, all service/job sheets, WhatsApp or email exchanges with the company, and photos of the defect. Courts regularly rule against companies when documentation is solid.
