What is PM Kisan?
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a central government scheme that gives ₹6,000 per year to all landholding farmer families in India. The money is sent directly to the farmer's bank account in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each — with no middlemen involved.
The scheme was launched in February 2019 and has since paid over ₹2.5 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers across India.
Who Qualifies?
All landholding farmer families are eligible. A "farmer family" means a husband, wife, and minor children who collectively own agricultural land.
❌ Not eligible: Former/current government employees, income tax payers, professionals (doctors, engineers, lawyers, CAs), former/current MPs, MLAs, Ministers, persons with monthly pension above ₹10,000, those who paid income tax in last assessment year.
How to Check Your Payment Status
- Go to pmkisan.gov.in
This is the only official website. Beware of fake sites. - Click "Beneficiary Status"
Found in the "Farmers Corner" section on the homepage. - Enter your Aadhaar number or mobile number
Select which type of ID you want to use and enter the number. - Click "Get Data"
You will see all past payments, their dates, and whether future payments are pending or on hold.
How to Register (New Farmers)
- Go to pmkisan.gov.in → "New Farmer Registration"
Under the Farmers Corner section. - Enter your Aadhaar number
Select Rural or Urban farmer as applicable. - Fill in your details
Name, address, bank account number, IFSC code, land records. - Upload land records
Khasra/Khatauni or land ownership documents. - Submit and note your reference number
Your application will be verified by the state government. This takes 2–4 weeks.
✅ You can also register at your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or Gram Panchayat — they will help fill the form for free.
My Payment is Stuck — How to Fix?
If your payment shows "Payment Pending" or "Failed", the most common reasons and fixes are:
- Wrong bank account number or IFSC → Visit pmkisan.gov.in → "Updation of Self Registered Farmer" and correct the details
- Aadhaar not linked to bank account → Visit your bank branch and link Aadhaar to your account
- e-KYC not done → Visit pmkisan.gov.in → "e-KYC" section and complete OTP verification, OR visit nearest CSC
- Land records mismatch → Visit your Patwari/Tehsildar office to correct land records
- Name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank → Visit bank or Aadhaar centre to match names
✅ Most payment issues are fixed by completing e-KYC. This is mandatory. Do it at pmkisan.gov.in or at any CSC centre near you.
